Intellectual and Spiritual Fulfillment
One of the most fundamental differences between humans and animals is our constant thirst for knowledge and meaning. At Judaism1on1, we will challenge you to expand and develop your mind and soul.
The mind is like a muscle – the more it is used, the more it develops. On the other hand, the more it is left untouched, the more it atrophies. The greatest thinkers and inventors did not necessarily have the greatest IQs. Rather, without modern day’s distractions such as TV and the internet, they utilized much more of their intellectual potential than we do. The greatest of mankind were able to harness their brain’s powers and channel them towards a spiritual reality.
The crown jewel of the human being is the brain. Therein lies our truest, ultimate potential – when utilized properly. If our minds are filled with nonsense, it is a tragic waste of a splendid gift. Alternatively, if the mind is permeated with true, insightful wisdom, it will lift us to the highest heights.
The Jewish sages teach that the soul is inherently connected to the brain and the heart. For this reason Jewish males place tefillin (phylacteries) upon the head and the arm (facing the heart). To properly start the day, and have the powers to conquer all of the challenges the world will throw our direction, we must first, through the help of our brain, direct our heart’s desires toward our higher purpose. (Parenthetically, women – who do not put on tefillin – are naturally more in touch with their spiritual purpose, and do not need this extra boost of focus to unite their heart and mind). Similarly, when learning Torah the connection between mind, heart and soul is deepened. Since Torah is G-d’s wisdom, attaching ourselves to Torah enables and necessitates a closeness to G-d.
We want you to access the wisdom of Torah, making it real and relevant to your life. The more you embark on the journey of true wisdom, the more you will feel true satisfaction as you connect to your higher purpose. We at Judaism1on1 are excited to share the wisdom of Judaism with you, whenever and wherever you choose!
